Ainori #296

  • ja

Ainori is a popular reality show in Japan, aired on Fuji TV on Monday nights at 23:00.

In August 2005, I discovered that Ainori was not only popular in Japan, but also all over the world thanks to Bit Torrent technology. I decided to write a summary of each episode, and do a translation of the weekly photo captions from the official site. What do I get out of this? I get to improve my Japanese, I get more traffic to my blog, but above all, I get the satisfaction of knowing many non-Japanese speakers all over the world can appreciate a truly unique reality show. Enjoy, and don’t hesitate to post any comments or questions you may have.

Ainori #296

Now wait a minute! What’s with this guy? Is Ainori going to need a psychological profiling test before they accept applicants? Some of you thought Arashi was strange? Welcome to the twilight zone, people! Alec is a compulsive, co-dependant, nintendo-aholic WEIRDO! Never mind the “I’m a foreign-looking Japanese” crap, this guy is something else! Picture this: you’re at the other end of the world, you sit next to a cute chick like Aya, who’s trying to talk to you (despite the fact you’re a foreign-looking Japanese!), and all you can think of is REPLAYING THE BUTTON SEQUENCE THAT WOULD ALLOW YOU TO GO THROUGH THE MOST BASIC NINTENDO MARIO GAME IN YOUR LONELY LITTLE MIND!? Man, I don’t know what to say…

On the other hand,
I believe Aya and Hide, through their Japanese “kamishibai” they created for kids in a hospital, are really getting closer together. The staff of the program are trying to manipulate us (the viewers) into believing Aya still has feelings for Arashi, which is ridiculous! Arashi is out of the picture, and I think Aya and Hide would make a great couple together…

:-) Special treat for non-Japanese speakers :-)

Although I like Hide more, I think maybe the staff of the program is giving a hint. I do not like the result that Arashi might declare to Aya, and Aya will say “yes”. But maybe this might happen, so the staff keep reminding us about Arashi. Thinking about TK and Mie, they were so close, but Mie refuse TK for Suuzan. ……

I saw the picture of Arashi and Aya. Someone went to Europe and met the Love Bus there. And they took a picture inside the Love Bus. I really don’t want this result. 〉〈

    Poor Hide!

Dismay. Then again, it isn’t something I hadn’t thought about before. Thought Aya had gotten over it… but uchuujin’s spell was just too powerful to shake off.
Yep, guessed right, I just saw the pic, and it makes me ask myself not “why?”, but rather “what happened after that?”. If Aya had to decide between Hide and that… “thing”, then Hide’s toast, no doubt about it. The pic’s authentic, that’s for sure, but… how come no one’s talking anout it on Ainori’s official website? Maybe they haven’t seen it yet… or perhaps people at Fuji TV don’t want the truth to spread among fans and so they’re banning posts related to that topic? It’s a big spoiler in any case… and altough I hate it, as I said before, it doesen’t surprise me either. Although weird, at least we finally got ourselves a new couple! Nah, not even that looks like a “bright side” to me, so nevermind.

Well, the two hour special aired tonight. Hide was offically the man with the longest time on Ai Nori. I’d tell you about the two hour special, but really you should just download it when it comes out and watch for yourself. I would like to reconfirm though that the only Ai Nori worth even a second look is O-se.

This site is a nice find. My wife and I have been watching Ainori in America dor the past three years. (I can’t believe it has been so long!) I think my first show was Hide’s debut.

The possibility of being able to download recent episodes sure beats crossing my fingers that the shows will be available at the Japanese video store, or waiting until the shows arrive at my house via the mail.

If you have any “pointers” for how to access streaming video of this show, please e-mail me or post in here.
