Ainori #301

  • ja

Ainori is a popular reality show in Japan, aired on Fuji TV on Monday nights at 23:00.

In August 2005, I discovered that Ainori was not only popular in Japan, but also all over the world thanks to Bit Torrent technology. I decided to write a summary of each episode, and do a translation of the weekly photo captions from the official site. What do I get out of this? I get to improve my Japanese, I get more traffic to my blog, but above all, I get the satisfaction of knowing many non-Japanese speakers all over the world can appreciate a truly unique reality show. Enjoy, and don’t hesitate to post any comments or questions you may have.

Ainori #301

WARNING! THIS IS A SPOILER!

Oh boy! There was so much going on this week, I don’t know where to start! Ok, first things first, let me introduce the new girl…

Hisayon Hisayo “Hisayon” Hasakawa, a 25 year old pastry chef from Gunma Prefecture. She’s very cute and cheerful, and I have a feeling she’ll be the light of the party. The message she wrote on her profile: “I’ll wrap you up in a sweet savor”. Well, so much for pastry! She brought the group some cake she had made herself, which I thought was a nice touch. She gave me a very good first impression, and I’m sure she’ll make an excellent participant.

Tagami

Izumi

Hisayon

At the beginning of this episode, Izumi and Tagami had their first private talk, away from the group, and Izumi seemed to have found Tagami pretty cute. When the group threw a little welcome party for Hisayon, she openly said that she thought Tagami was cute too, and that didn’t please Izumi at all, who started making sarcastic remarks about Hisayon’s age. Aaaah, the stage is set for a (maybe) not so friendly competition.

Mie

suuzan

And now guess what? Suuzan didn’t feel too good after wrestling with some of the natives (no worries, it was a friendly competition), and Mie was very nice to him, covering him with a blanket and taking care of him. It seems he started noticing what a nice girl Mie is, and it’s about time, if you ask me. Is he finally gonna come around? I certainly hope so, because I think they would make a really nice couple. Besides, it seems there’s nobody interested in either one of them for the time being, which means the way is wide open. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Alec

Izumi

Next, we have Alec, who somehow seems to be under the impression Izumi is getting interested in him. Good grief! This guy reminds me of TK when he was so sure Mie was after him… He better snap out of it real soon, because there will be no Mario to save the day if he keeps imagining things…

Outlaw

Izumi
And finally, we got to see Mr. Macho Man in action. There he was, with Izumi, immobilizing her against a fence and trying to kiss her from behind. What a creep! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, DUDE, YOU’RE NOT IN SHINJUKU ANYMORE!

:-) Ainori 301 – Special treat for non-Japanese speakers :-)

    Hello Sylvan.

Do you know the name of the female who hosts the show?. She’s very, very funny!. I would like to know more about her.

What a pity that there are no more subtitles for Ainori!. I was thinking to translate the subs to Spanish, but, now , we only have your translation for every episode in order to know what’s happening.

A lot of thanks for your excellent work!.

    Greetings from Spain

One of the best episodes I’ve seen in quite a while! Seeing Alec going “akankankankan” before falling from that horse was surprising… and amusing, I won’t deny it, even though Izumi got hurt as well.
Heh, Hisayon reminded me of one of those akiha cosplayers otas love so much (and no, that doesen’t mean I’m critizicing her… at all ^ ^). She’s so… “kirakira” I guess. I’m really having a hard time deciding who I’m going to root for. Which reminds me… I told you guys!! Looks alone won’t count on this show. Alec could suffer the same fate Kouji did… which dissapoints me a bit for I kinda liked that immature side of his.
Now, about Outlaw… heh, how come Izumi didn’t just slap him? Maybe deep inside her she considers that hitting a guy who, although a froilander, is good looking (not in my opinion, though), would be a waste. In a way she was asking for it. “Play with fire and you’ll get burned”… or so they say.
Finally, seeing the faces of the cast of the Middle East saga made me so happy!! They smiled and even posed together for a pic like nothing ever happened between them… like a “clean sweep” you could say. That was neat, I really enjoyed those few seconds. If I lived in Japan I’d probably buy the damn thing just to listen to the interview they gave. Omami and Kouji… oh, those two sure bring to my mind nice memories! ^ ^

I was walking through Kinokuniya (Japanese bookstore) today and almost picked up the new Ainori memory book. It’s got loads of pictures of all our faves from days gone by. It will have to wait until my next trip because I landed up buying the new ARTiT magazine instead and ran outta cash. ARTiT, while being totally unrelated to Ainori, is a great little contemporary art mag dedicated to Japan and the rest of Asia’s underated scene. Best of all it’s in Japanese AND English! When I pick up the new AINORI book I will leave my impressions! As always thanks for the great site!!

Cet épisode était démentiel! Le type de 30 ans m’a vraiment effrayé! Quel pervers!

J’ai trop de peine pour Alec… Mais Izumi et Hisayon montrent bien comme les femmes peuvent être cruelles entre elles!

  9. Helena Says:

outlaw gave me the creeps too in this episode, arienaiiii tsuu noo!!!

  10. Josh Says:

Ahhh Alec, what are you doing?!?! I want to see him do well, but he seems to be getting nowhere….

I was a bit sweet for Izumi when she arrived but I really didn’t like her letting Outlaw get away with that display. Anyway, I’m more taken by Hisayon now anyway :) I think her genki attitude and outlook is a very welcome addition to the love bus.

  11. NewYorkJihen Says:

Izumi is trying to be a player by getting all the guys to like her… Look what she’s doing to poor Alec. And she got burned by pervvy Outlaw. But no one deserves that. That hentai dude has to go.
