Ainori #304

  • ja

Ainori is a popular reality show in Japan, aired on Fuji TV on Monday nights at 23:00.

In August 2005, I discovered that Ainori was not only popular in Japan, but also all over the world thanks to Bit Torrent technology. I decided to write a summary of each episode, and do a translation of the weekly photo captions from the official site. What do I get out of this? I get to improve my Japanese, I get more traffic to my blog, but above all, I get the satisfaction of knowing many non-Japanese speakers all over the world can appreciate a truly unique reality show. Enjoy, and don’t hesitate to post any comments or questions you may have.

Ainori #304

Aaaaarrrggh! Mie went one step too far! The group found a place where Hungarian couples put up locks, and each of the lovers keep one key, to symbolize a mutual promise of eternal love. So Mie went to buy a lock and two keys, and asked Suuzan to put up the lock with her. Suuzan was a bit surprised, but went ahead and did it anyway. Mie then gave Suuzan his key, and they went back to the hotel, apparently without any problem. So far, so good, you say? The next day, Suuzan’s attitude had changed completely, and he insisted on being left alone. Apparently, he was having second thoughts, suddenly taken aback by the strength of Mie’s feelings. He ended up by himself in a restaurant, with Mie looking for him all over the place. When he saw her looking for him out the window, he did his best to hide, but it was no use. She went in the restaurant, too, and sat with him. The both of them ended up sobbing over a pizza, unable to say anything significant to each other…

Next week, it seems Mie will declare her true feelings to him, giving him the fateful plane ticket. I can’t wait to see the outcome, and really hope they will go back to Japan together.

    Hey Sylvian,

It seems Suuzan maybe was is a bit shocked and afraid of someone caring for him so much. Sure Ainori is a show that helps create relationships, but for someone like Suuzan who may be inexperienced in such things (I’m not sure), once your confronted with such devotion from someone, (especially a lock and key symbolizing Eternal love) it may cause him to panic or have second thoughts. I hope Suuzan realizes that Mie is really a great match for him. Mie was a bit foward, but she may have thought it was a cute innocent way of declaring her affection to Suuzan. I hope everything goes well for them!

    @person above
I’m sure Suuzan is experienced. He’s certainly not naive towards these things. Did you see how he let his own feelings relent so that Mie might feel better?

..Also, there was that confession he recieved from Mikarin. It was supposedly the longest confession in Ainori’s history standing at an hour and like, 39 minutes, right? What kind of “love amateur,” would be able to pull that one off?

He doesn’t do it for a profession, like Outlaw, but I think it’s a combination of his “passion,” and gentle heart that draws girls to him.

Ah well.. this is getting a bit too complicated. I was totally “WTF!?” when I saw Suuzan crying in the restaurant. I mean why? Being sad about for not being able to return the passion which Mie has for him? Well maybe. As much as I would like to see it, but I have a feeling this one won’t work out for Mie. As for me, Mie rushed in too fast and after all she stalked the whole downtown. “C’mon, give this man a time to think alone about it.” And I don’t think that that Lock/Key thing was a good idea to declare her love. For other ppl this could be a good way, but having Suuzan in, no way.
So yeah, in my opinion Mie just wanted too much at once and well, let’s face it. If Suuzan has experience or not doesn’t matter that much. Everybody saw how surprised or better let’s say “shocked” he was by the fact that he wanted to be alone suddenly. It was just too much for him.
I don’t want to see another sad ending after tk and Hide T____T.
    GOOD LUCK, MIE !!!

Wow, the guy was just warming up to her and suddenly she goes stalker on him. Ill be really surprised if they go back together, but i expect a train wreck next week.

this isn’t looking good. i feel he’s gonna reject mie because doesnt feel towards her even half of what she feels towards him so plus the way he has reacted makes me think he won’t go back to japan with her because that would be too much for him. on the other side, he said in the last episode “i was thinking it would be fun to go back to japan with her” or “we could have a long term relationship”. so if he was thinking like that… well… the thing is he doesnt like her enough, i think. and she has been too impetuous and that has killed the possibilities she had to get suuzan…

will suuzan ever find a couple in ainori? he does seem to be quite picky and has never got in love with anyone yet while the other members have liked someone with much more intensity. either he is very cool and distant or none of the girls who have joined are her type. im really intrigued about him and how he will turn out in the ainori love search.

    Thanx for the comments, everybody.

I think Suuzan was starting to consider Mie as a potential girlfriend, and that she jumped the gun. He’s definitely not the type to rush into a relationship, and probably needed more time to think things over. He knows Mie and him would be great together, and although I also sense he might turn her down next week, I believe he’s gonna give the answer everybody hopes for… Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

    Wow, What episode !!

The scene where Suuzan is hidden in the restaurant and Mie is looking for him is one of the best I’ve seen in Ainori since I watch it

I think Suuzan has panicked completely. He needs time to think about his feelings. Mie should leave free Suuzan some time until he realizes that they are a beautiful couple.

This episode will be not deleted from the hard disk. It will be added to the Ainori most remarkable episodes !!

Oh mon dieu!!

    Hello everyone,

Is there somewhere that I can still download episode #304? I just came back from a long vacation and missed this. Thanks for your help in advance!

I am also interested in downloading this episode. I was not able to find this episode anywhere on the usual bittorrent sites. Previous poster Ragundo mentions it’s stored on his hard disk, so someone must’ve seeded it. If no one has it, Ainori is shown about four months behind where I live, so this episode should air in about a month. I might be able to record and seed it…

Anyway, I hope Suzaan comes to his senses and says yes to Mie. He’s been on for awhile, I know he saw how Hide rejected so many and ended up going home alone.

The thing I’m really worried about is that Outlaw will realize that his sleaze doesn’t work on this show. If he never gives anyone his tickets out of fear of rejection, he could become a long term member. I can’t take much more of him. Wouldn’t it be great if Izumi pretended to like him just so she could have a rejection?
