Ainori #317 – Ainori Special

  • ja

Ainori is a popular reality show in Japan, aired on Fuji TV on Monday nights at 23:00.

In August 2005, I discovered that Ainori was not only popular in Japan, but also all over the world thanks to Bit Torrent technology. I decided to write a summary of each episode, and do a translation of the weekly photo captions from the official site. What do I get out of this? I get to improve my Japanese, I get more traffic to my blog, but above all, I get the satisfaction of knowing many non-Japanese speakers all over the world can appreciate a truly unique reality show. Enjoy, and don’t hesitate to post any comments or questions you may have.

Ainori #317

WARNING! DOUBLE WARNING! TRIPLE WARNING!
THIS IS AN EVEN BIGGER SPOILER THAN
THE HUGEST SPOILER EVER!
Does this make any sense?
Ah, what the hell, it’s big, really big!

Are you all well seated, Ainori fans? I certainly hope so, because this week we got proof that not even incompetent soundmen or rude cameramen can turn the tides of love. I don’t really believe in fate, but I’m starting to have serious doubts…

First, as they announced last week, the staff went to apologize to Outlaw, and this being Japan, Outlaw apologized back for his (very understandable) behavior. If you know anything about Japanese culture, that was to be expected. Then Outlaw proceeded in showing the staff his newly opened dental clinic called “Earth – Shinjuku Dental Clinic”. At least, he had the guts to copy Ainori’s logo and put some of the fame he got on the program to good use. Yeah, way to go, dude! The clinic is opened until five in the morning, so hosts and hostesses from the Shinjuku area, who usually work until wee hours in the morning, can use it. It’s located here, so if you ever find yourself in the area, you can drop by and maybe have a chance to meet the man himself.

Now, I know I just asked you to be sitting down, not so you won’t fall down, but so you can jump out of your seat like I did when I watched this week’s episode. Are you ready? Watch out for those low ceilings…

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS! It seems that right after the incident happened, Outlaw left a letter for Goki, telling her about his feelings for her, how he regretted the whole mess, asking her to meet him upon their return to Japan. And BAM! Our born-again Romeo did it! He asked Goki to be his girlfriend, and now she’s helping him with the clinic. I’m not ashamed to admit that I had watery eyes. Congratulations, you two, you really came out of this beautifully, and against the odds at that! Man, I love this show!

The rest of the show was about the wedding ceremony of Kouta and Miho, two ex-Ainori participants (Kouta is the guy who probably made the longest love declaration ever on Ainori – 1 hour 40 minutes!). Congratulations! If you’ve never been to one of those, this is an excellent glimpse into what a modern Japanese wedding ceremony looks like. There were also a bunch of ex-Ainori participants, and many I couldn’t remember, too. Too bad I wasn’t watching regularly back then.

Next week we’ll have Tagamikun’s answer to Izumi’s kokuhaku (love declaration in Japanese), and it looks like Suuzan will finally see the light. The guy is heads over feet in love with Mie, and he realizes that he can’t think about anyone else but her. I certainly hope (like many of you) that he’ll go back to Japan and find her. That would be soooooo sweet!

Ok, I know I’ve been slow on translations lately, but don’t worry people, work has finally slowed down a bit. So just for the record…
:-) Special treat for non-Japanese speakers coming soon – I promise! :-)

Lame. Goki just went with him out of pity. Maybe she’s a gold digger.

As for Susan, he is an idiot. Just like Hide, he ends up crying later when they had the chance. People finally realize the value of something AFTER they lose it (well, myself included actually). Tsk tsk.

Goki looks a lot different without the overalls. Nice coat, nice earrings… I guess you have to look your best in Shinjuku. Outlaw did say he had money. And I thought New York was the city that never slept. Sure you can get alcohol at four in the morning, but dental work ?!

I hope things turn out well for Outlaw, he deserves better after that lame ploy by the Ainori producers.
As for Suuzan, I hope the next episode will have his love manifesting itself enough to drive him to Japan and meet Mie. They are a match. I think Suuzan was just hesitant into jumping into a relationship (i.e. the time Mie gave him a lock). Hopefully Mie is willing to let by-gones be by-gones and accept Suuzan, if he ever goes back to Nippon and professes his love.

It would be great if they follow Susan back to Japan and Mie is with another man. LOL

T’en fais pas, moi j’aime bien les commentaires en français. Ils sont tellement rares! (^_^)

I don’t think Goki is going out with Outlaw out of pity. I mean, look at them all lovey-dovey. The thing with the sound man was just a crush. She never even friggin talked to him.

So romantic how Outlaw wrote he’d wait for her every week at the park not even knowing when she’d be back. I’m so happy for him. After all the shit happened I felt so bad for him. They make a cute couple. I hope it lasts.

Time for Suuzan and Mie (another cute couple) to get together. Fingers crossed >.

  12. Drew Says:

The park where he was waiting (Shakujii Koen by the boat docks) is right by my house! I go there all the time; cool to think that that’s where they were re-united!
