Ainori #319

  • ja

Ainori is a popular reality show in Japan, aired on Fuji TV on Monday nights at 23:00.

In August 2005, I discovered that Ainori was not only popular in Japan, but also all over the world thanks to Bit Torrent technology. I decided to write a summary of each episode, and do a translation of the weekly photo captions from the official site. What do I get out of this? I get to improve my Japanese, I get more traffic to my blog, but above all, I get the satisfaction of knowing many non-Japanese speakers all over the world can appreciate a truly unique reality show. Enjoy, and don’t hesitate to post any comments or questions you may have.

Ainori #319

This week will be short and sweet… very sweet (^-^)

Suuzan Mie

YES! He did it! Suuzan went to Osaka, spilled his guts and got the girl! The staff had actually fooled Mie into believing they needed pictures for Ainori, and asked her to meet them in a park, towards which of course Suuzan was heading. Apparently, her feelings for Suuzan hadn’t changed, and when she saw him, she was so surprised she said she felt like throwing up – no kidding! Then Suuzan started his explanation “à la Hide”, with a bunch of “anoooo” (Japanese equivalent of “eeerrr”), and then told her how he felt lonely after she had left Ainori, but how he thought it was just like when any other member left. As we all know, he eventually realized that Mie was the right girl for her, and he finally made his move this week. The funny part is that after he told her he loved her, he made an hour long recap of what had happened since she left the group, and it’s only after it had gotten dark that they finally kissed. It took Suuzan a few minutes before he could kiss Mie (he’s so sweet), but after he did, he was so happy he took off half of his clothes and threw himself into the river – and no, he wasn’t even drunk! I was so happy for them, I would have thrown myself into the river behind my apartment building, that is, if I had been drunk, of course…
Next week, four new participants – yes, four – will join the group. Is that a first? In any case, it should prove really interesting…

The birth of the 36th Ainori couple!

Ok, I know I’ve been slow on translations lately, but don’t worry people, work has finally slowed down a bit I’ll be finishing them as soon as the summer vacation starts. So just for the record…
:-) Special treat for non-Japanese speakers coming soon – I promise! :-)

I think I can say we needed this story to end this way.
I don’t know why, but I rooted to Hide and Suuzan.

Hide left without love… I still can’t believe Aya fell for Arashi.
And suuzan… he almost lost his love.

This is the end of an era for me, Suuzan was the last of the “original” members from when I first started watching the show last September or October or so (whenever tk confessed to Mie, I think that was my first episode).

    Really glad it ended well.

Now the only people who are left are boring, so I hope that there are some good people in the 4 new members…

This was the most exciting Ainori yet. I am so happy that two of my favorite participants hooked up. I have predicted this since Mie and Suuzan held hands for such a long time since Mie was saying her goodbye after the kokuhaku. That was a symbolic gesture, in my opinion of the chemistry between these two. I wish the happy couple all the best. The was a cute way of surprising Mie.
As for the four new contestants, they have a lot to live up to because the past contestants were unforgettable. But knowing Ainori and watching it for over 5 years, there’ll be more exciting characters to come. Thanks Sylvain for all your help in translating the goings on of the Ainori crew!

Actually, shortly after Ainori finished making it’s first trip around the world, each member either got rejected or retired and there was only one left. And he… finally just retired and there was a point where we got a whole new set of newbies. Unfortunately, new people without old storylines to hold our interest, are not very interesting – from my experience. : T But yeah. I’m looking forward to this episode man. Geez. I can’t believe I spoiled it for myself.

Oh my god that’s sooooo wonderful! I was hoping they would get together and they did, YaY!

This was a great episode, truly heartwarming and a positive endnote to a really raucous and somewhat cynical past dozen-or-so installments. It’s also the “end of an era” for me as well, since I first started watching Ainori with Mie’s introductory episode. And while she left the show a while ago, I cannot imagine a better ending for them. Knowing Suzan, he would have NEVER left the wagon otherwise…

  8. Baka Says:

Haha Hide should’ve done this with the first girl, but he sucks.

Lucky Susan!!! Reality usually is not that nice; MIE would’ve had a new boyfriend and Susan should’ve regret even more.

The setup was totally like out of a movie…. I cried a lot. I wish I could do what Susan did… but unfortunately for me, the girl had a new boyfriend. lol. So sad. So yeah, I’m just being bitter.

    Mie looked cuter. Great episode!!

wow, this must be the first time someone the confessed their feelings to a member already off the show!! how romantic!! he had so many odds against him…
he’s so lucky that Mie was still available… and still liked him just the same!!!
Suzan is sooo stupid!! but, funny. those two def make a good couple..
and i wonder who these four new members are. the first time that so many member appear on the show at the same time you say? wow..
i hope they’re interesting people. and what about hisayo’s little issue next week.. of course it has something to do with Tagami-kun.. I wonder what’s gonna happen next…
This has to be one of the best episodes yet… It’s like the dream of all people who been dumped by the person they just poured their heart out to and still hope that one day…
Anyway, can’t wait until next week!!
